Zambia - Chiansi Small Holder Outgrower Support Project in Chanyanya and Chikupi Wards of Kafue District - P-ZM-AA0-039 - Environmental Project Brief (EPB) Executive Summary
The Ministry of Agriculture has prepared this Environmental Project Brief (EPB) building on the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) of the Chiansi Irrigation Infrastructure Project (the ‘Project’) which was undertaken between 2014 and 2016 by InfraCo Ltd and approved by the Zambia Environmental Management Agency (ZEMA) in November 2017. The Chiansi Small holder Out grower Support Project (COSP) is being developed by Ministry of Agriculture in conjunction with African Development Bank (AfDB). The project involves abstraction of water from the bulk water infrastructure via six pumping stations to supply water to small holder farms. The irrigation methods to be used are center pivot and drag line. The main crops to be irrigated include Sugarcane, Bananas, Citrus trees and vegetables. Read More
