South Africa - Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) Line of Credit - P-ZA-HA0-009

The Bank, through the proposed project, will extend a Line of Credit (LoC) facility of ZAR 2.3 billion to DBSA under the NSO window. This unsecured, LoC will have a 10-year tenor inclusive of a 2 year grace period on principal repayment. The facility will provide competitively priced long-term funding to DBSA to support the continued expansion of its portfolio of assets in critical sectors such clean and renewable energy, and industrialization, as well as social and transport infrastructure, manufacturing, and affordable housing across the SADC region. The SADC region constitutes a relatively integrated bloc with a significant level of economic, financial and trade cooperation and interrelatedness, and work in tandem on the basis of a shared strategy for energy access, transport infrastructure, cross border trade and payments as well as market integration, access to information and ICT services. The proceeds of this intervention will be channeled for support projects across these areas. At least 20 percent of the proceeds of the facility will be channeled to projects which have a gender beneficial component and will target women owned and womenled businesses. The Bank and DBSA will implement a loan agreement, which will govern the use of proceeds, disbursement triggers, reporting requirements, which shall include but not be limited to financial performance, development outcomes as well as environmental and social compliance.
