SRK Consulting (South Africa) (SRK) was appointed by BUA Cement Plc (BUA) to conduct an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for expansion of their existing Sokoto cement plant, through addition of a new cement production line (line 5) (see Figure 1 for the location of the plant). Part of the ESIA is also to assess impacts associated with current BUA Cement Sokoto plant operations including line 4 (which was commissioned in early 2022). This ESIA is required to meet the requirements of international lenders, from whom BUA intends to obtain funding for the new production lines.
